Here is the finished depiction of John Lewis' merciless beating by Alabama state troopers at the entrance to the Edmund Pettus bridge on Sunday, March 7, 1965. The event captured the attention of a majority of Americans and was the final straw that pushed President Lyndon B. Johnson to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
